On the back of its 30th anniversary celebrations, ultra-luxury cruise line Seabourn welcomes the MV Seabourn Ovation, sister ship to the MV Seabourn Encore, to its modern fleet.
Setting off from Venice, Italy on her inaugural ‘Mediterranean Spring’ cruise on 5 May 2018, Seabourn Ovation was christened on 11 May in Valletta, Malta by British actor and singer Elaine Paige.
The celebrations at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, named the 2018 European Capital of Culture, included the first performance of Seabourn’s new anthem, ‘We Sail to See the Lives of Others’, written by British lyricist Sir Tim Rice.
Construction on the ship, the second 600-passenger capacity vessel in the Seabourn fleet, began at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy in June 2016.

Roughly 1,700 people were involved, with renowned hospitality designer Adam D Tihany responsible for the unique design of the ship’s 300 suites as well as her common spaces. The suites incorporate a series of thoughtful touches designed to make guests feel at home, and are perfect for both relaxing and entertaining.
Regional flavours punctuate the culinary offerings on board. A diverse range of dining options includes The Grill by Thomas Keller, a restaurant taking inspiration from the American chophouse and serving up timeless classics like lobster thermidor and ice-cream sundaes.
Seabourn’s famed Conversations program forms a highlight of the on-board entertainment, and guests can enjoy classic Hollywood films on the pool deck as part of the ship’s Movies Under the Stars events.
Comedy, cabaret performances and classic recitals are on offer in the Grand Salon, and in the aftermath of all that excitement, guests can unwind at the award-winning Spa at Seabourn, or relax in a private cabana at The Retreat.
