The largest-ever fully custom AMELS superyacht has arrived in Vlissingen, the Netherlands – and it’s a head-turner.
The 78-metre superyacht hit the water for the first time when it left AMELS’ hull building facility last December and will now remain in Vlissingen to be outfitted in the lead up to its 2021 delivery.
With exteriors designed by naval architect Espen Øino, the 2,850 gross tonnage yacht will be even bigger than the current AMELS flagship – the 83-metre HERE COMES THE SUN, which has a 2,827 gross tonnage.
Commissioned during the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show, this will be the Dutch yacht builder’s first fully custom-built yacht since introducing its Limited Editions range in 2005.
It joins four AMELS Limited Editions yachts, two DAMEN SeaXplorers and five refits.
Zuretti Interior Design will stylise the interiors – which are being kept strictly under wraps.
At the December launch, the representative of the owner’s team, Andrew Tree of Superyacht Technical Services, commented, “This truly custom yacht, with a stunning design both inside and out, could only be achieved with the greatest collaboration, having the very best of European design and the highest quality of construction and management.”
Espen Øino added, “It’s definitely a unique project and it was an intense collaboration with AMELS and I think it’s been an amazing journey so far since signing the contract in 2017.”
But the Full Custom yacht isn’t the only impressive vessel sitting in the outfitting quays of DAMENS Yachting’s Vlissingen Hub.
A total of 26 yacht projects are currently underway at both the new build and hull building facilities in Vlissingen.
AMELS is one of the few yards in the world that can deliver large complex yachts built to the highest quality.
It boasts the largest superyacht facility in the Netherlands, complete with a modern climate-controlled 200-metre dry dock and a team of renowned designers and engineers.
