This ‘less-fuss’ approach to fashion is increasingly in demand. This does not equate to a decline in style, however, to the contrary. More women and men, particularly in corporate environments, now seek investment clothing—pieces that will not only take them from one event to another with ease, but will last from season to season.
From the beginning, it has been my biggest aspiration to create pieces that would be timeless, simple and elegant, and that would make their wearers feel beautiful. To me, beauty comes from confidence. I wanted my designs to give women that power, and I wanted them to transpire through every event—be that from the morning into the night—with no change of dress required.
With that ideal in mind, I have learnt that while my brand is, of course, one made to serve the female body, the concept of self worth and dressing for all events and situations is also very real in a man’s world.
Regardless of body type, lifestyle or gender, it is important in business and pleasure to be aware of what your attire says about you. Some may call this ‘looking the part’, but even if you don’t much care what you or others may be wearing, what you wear invariably has an impression on those around you.
It affects the way they interact with you—like your face, like your voice, your clothing says a lot about you, even if you don’t mean for it to. Clothing is a part of your expression as an individual. Likewise, what you wear can have a major impact on the way you see yourself, and conduct yourself around others. Confidence has no small role to play in our daily interactions, and what you wear—or, rather, how you feel about yourself in what you wear—can change your entire outlook on the day.
