Chairman Yang Guoqiang, Country Garden’s Founder, and my personal mentor, has always been focused on supporting projects that have meaningful positive impact on the communities we operate in. The charitable contributions the company has made since commencing in 1992 exceed RMB3.3 billion, confirming our corporate mission ‘to create a better society with our existence’.
Ensuring our major projects leave a legacy not only for our residents, but also their broader communities, is one of our key performance indicators.
Education has always been a particular focus for our corporate social responsibility investments.
As testament to this, in China, Country Garden has built 16 bilingual schools, 40 kindergartens and 16 training schools.
Education has always been a particular focus for our corporate social responsibility investments.
We are also looking forward to assisting our large-scale communities with their educational needs in Australia.
The masterplan for our new Windermere community, west of Melbourne, includes the delivery of four schools: two government primary schools; one government secondary school; and one combined private primary and secondary school.
The project will be ideal for young families as it will also include a childcare centre and be near early learning centres, Deakin University, Victoria University’s Werribee Campus and RMIT University. The planned Australian Education City will also be just 10 kilometres away, further increasing Windermere’s attractiveness as an education-focused community.
We are very keen to draw on our overseas learnings in delivering education to not only our residents, but also those in the wider community who don’t have the privilege of accessing quality education.
It’s all part of our commitment to improving society by increasing the standard of living for all… and education plays a key role in this.
