Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse
US$3.8 million
Topping the luxury list is the stunning 1001 Nights Diamond Purse from prestigious Emirati and Swiss jewellery brand Mouawad. The dazzling heart-shaped purse was handcrafted from 18-karat gold and features 4,517 diamonds. The gems – 105 yellow, 56 pink and 4,356 colourless – have a combined weight of 381.92 carats.
The bag was designed by the third-generation owner of the business, Robert Mouawad, and crafted by 10 artisans. It took a total of 8,800 hours to make.
The purse has held the top spot for some time now – back in 2010 it was already deemed the most valuable handbag in the world by Guinness World Records.

Hermès Kelly Rose Gold
US$2 million
Designed by fashion house Hermès in collaboration with jeweller Pierre Hardy, this striking handbag mimics crocodile leather and is made from solid rose gold.
It features an impressive 1,160 diamonds. Only 12 of the Kelly Rose Gold were made and they come in three varieties.

Hermès Birkin Bag by Ginza Tanaka
US$1.4 million
This regal and sophisticated handbag comes from Japanese jewellery designer Ginza Tanaka. It was created using platinum and features a detachable diamond strap which can be used as a necklace.
It also has an eight-carat, pear shaped centre piece which doubles as a brooch. The handbag features an impressive 2,000 diamonds on its outer shell.

Hermès Chaine d’Ancre Bag
US$1.4 million
Hermès continues to dominate the expensive handbag list with its Chaine d’Ancre Bag. Aptly named for the 1,160 diamond-studded chain links it’s made of, the bag is a treat for those looking for something more unique.
Designed by Pierre Hardy, only three of these bags were ever made.

Lana Marks Cleopatra Clutch
US$400,000
Only one Lana Marks Cleopatra Clutch is released each year, making them extremely rare and highly valuable. Priced between US$100,000 and US$400,000, the clutches each have a different design and colour.
Famous Chinese actress Li Bingbing currently owns the most expensive Cleopatra Clutch. Hers is made of American alligator leather and encrusted with 1,600 white diamonds. It’s also customised her name written along the top of the clutch in pink and pink gold diamonds.
