Austrade works with more than 5,000 businesses across Australia and a host of industry and government agencies to utilise export and investment opportunities and strengthen Australia’s presence on the world stage.
Bruce Gosper, CEO of Austrade, sat down with The CEO Magazine to discuss how he and his team are ensuring the economic health and future prosperity of Australian business.
The CEO Magazine: Since assuming the role of CEO in February 2013, how have you strategically positioned and transformed Austrade?
Bruce: When I came in, the organisation had just been through a bit of a strategic review, which was undertaken by the former CEO. It set a sound overall direction that was much needed. But there was a bit of work to do around re-energising, consolidating, and implementing the agenda, and getting the organisation moving forward again. A lot of it was about confirming the strategic direction and encouraging people to take the initiative and move forward. We needed to get back into contact with business and add value where we could and where it was needed.
Another thing that I’ve been working on is really about building on the strengths that the organisation has and reminding people that the real value-add that we have as an organisation is the insight and market intelligence that we’ve got. We recruited a new chief economist to give us some additional firepower.
It’s going to be finish of mine day, but before end I am reading this enormous article to increase my experience.
