Anglo American is one of the world’s largest diversified mining group. The company has a host of commodities, projects and operations in Africa, Europe, North and South America, Australia, and Asia. Locally, Anglo American’s Metallurgical Coal business is headquartered in Brisbane. With six existing open-cut and underground operations, a variety of projects in Queensland and New South Wales and an open-cut mine in British Columbia, Canada, this extremely attractive asset base and growth pipeline is setting the organisation up for years to come.
CEO of Anglo American’s Australian branch Seamus French qualified as a chemical engineer in Ireland and spent seven years in Germany with Henkel as an R&D and process-development manager. He moved to Australia and started taking on more corporate positions until he was enlisted by Western Mining, working in strategy, planning, business development, and operations. It was here that he was exposed to the realm of energy and resources, which prepared him for his move to Anglo American in 2007 as the organisation’s Metallurgical Coal business unit CEO.
