With years of years in supply chain management, business process re-engineering, and industrial engineering, Brijesh Garg was a clear choice for the newly created role of Vice President of Procurement and Member of Group Management Board for NLMK. He was worked in mill logistics, HR planning, incentive system management and labour efficiency improvement for 15 years now, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the role. I started my career working with Tata Steel in 1985 and worked for Tata Steel in the field of industrial engineering, which evolved into plant efficiency and the productivity aspects of Tata Steel, where I worked in for about 13 years. I then moved on to technical advisory roles on the industrial side of operations in Tata Steel.
From there I was made a leader of the taskforce, which led to supply chain restructure of Tata Steel in 1998. I then worked on the restructure of supply chain and productivity in that role until 2001. I then left Tata Steel to join Arcelor Mittal in Kryvorizhstal. I continued with that, helping them in procurement restructuring and technical support. Then I moved to New Zealand and worked for Blue Scope Steel, which is based in Australia, with operations in New Zealand. From there I moved on to Arcelor Mittal once again to their plant in Ukraine during 2009. I worked there in the capacity of Chief Procurement Officer until 2011. I then joined NLMK in 2012 and since then Ive been working here in the capacity of Vice President of Procurement and Member of Group Management Board.
