Why should I enter?
As well as recognition, exposure, an opportunity to network with the leading players in Australian business and a celebration thrown in your honour, winners across the business awards categories receive an elegant trophy and media coverage from The CEO Magazine and other outlets.
The winners of the CEO of the Year Awards will make the cover of The CEO Magazine’s Executive of The Year Awards Special Issue and will be invited to join the judging panel at the following year’s awards.
About the Application Process
What are the categories this year?
This year we have categories covering CEO of the Year $A20m–100m turnover; CEO of the Year A$100m+ turnover; Managing Director of the Year; Entrepreneur of the Year; Young Executive of the Year; Startup Executive of the Year; and Not-for-Profit Executive of the Year.
What are the criteria for the categories?
You’ll find the full list of criteria and more detail here for all the categories.
When do applications officially open?
The applications for the 2023 Executive of the Year Awards are now open. You can apply here.
Does it cost anything to apply for an award?
No – it’s free to enter!
Can I enter more than one category?
Yes – as long as you meet the criteria, you are able to enter multiple categories.
How long does the application process take?
The entire application process takes approximately 30–60 minutes. We recommend that when you start your application, you have everything you need to finish it in one sitting.
It is important that you hit the submit button upon completing the application.
When should I complete the application by?
The application closing date is 14 July 2023.
Do I have to answer all the questions on the application?
If you are applying for a category outside the two CEO of the Year categories, you will need to answer all the questions. Submitting additional videos and files is optional.
If you are applying for one of our CEO of the Year awards, we encourage you to outline as many achievements as you can under each of the application topics.
Why do you need company financials?
Only those applying for the CEO of the Year award are required to address turnover. Company finances are used to categorise the subcategories for the CEO of the Year award A$20–100 million and A$100 million+. The judges will use these figures as part of the review process. All disclosed financials are kept strictly confidential.
I was a finalist in a previous year. Can I enter again?
Yes, applicants from previous years, including finalists and winners, may re-enter.
The application process asks for a photo of me. What sort of photo do I need to upload?
We’ll need a professional headshot to use in the event of the individual applicant becoming a finalist or winner. Files should be at least one megabyte.
Can I win more than one award?
Yes! If you apply for more than one category, it is possible to win multiple categories, and this has happened in previous years.
How will I be contacted if I’m a finalist?
If you are a finalist, you will be notified via the email address and phone number provided on your application form.
When are the finalists announced?
Finalists will be announced on 11 August 2023.
When are the winners announced?
Winners are announced at the Executive of the Year Awards presentation ceremony on Thursday 16 November, The Star, Pyrmont, Sydney.

Where are the Awards being hosted this year?
The Awards will return for its 12th year in 2023 as a black-tie event, hosted at The Star, Pyrmont, Thursday 16 November.
Can I attend the awards night if I’m not a finalist?
Absolutely! Tickets will be made available later in 2023.
